Peace, Love, and Cupcakes JV, presented by Gardner Edgerton Youth Theatre Academy through the Gardner Edgerton School District, is playing at Wheatridge Middle School on Friday, October 13th at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 14th at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. This family-friendly upbeat musical by Rick Hip-Flores is based on the hit book series written by mother-daughter duo Sheryl Berk and Carrie Berk.
Kylie has a big problem: she’s different. And different isn’t necessarily a good thing in 7th grade. She loves vampires, zombies, and all things pertaining to monster movies - one of the many reasons why kids at her new school avoid her like the Creature from the Black Lagoon. To sweeten up her image - and find a place where she belongs - Kylie starts a cupcake club (Peace, Love and Cupcakes), attended by three other socially invisible girls. Together, they forge a powerful friendship, figure out how to create crowd-pleasing cupcakes, and become a booming baking business that would make Martha Stewart envious. But when Meredith Mitchell, Blakely Middle School’s resident Queen Bee, tries to sabotage their efforts, will Kylie have the courage to stand up to the bully and bring the school together? A musical that celebrates kid power, friendship, and standing up for who you are and what you believe in.
“Peace, Love, and Cupcakes is such a great show! I am so impressed with these young artists. They have given up their Saturdays (and some Fridays) to rehearse and make this show as successful as possible. The music for this show is so fun and catchy! The choreography fits perfectly and makes you want to get up and dance with the cast. We hope to see you at one of the performances!” - Kimberly Arzoian, Director
