Larry Ward named Coach of the Year
GEHS Girls' Track and Field Coach Larry Ward was recently named the Girls' Coach of the Year by the Kansas
Coaches Association for the 2010 Track & Field season. The Kansas Coaches Association recognizes the outstanding work that track and field coaches are doing around the state. Coach
Ward was selected for his guidance of the 2010 Gardner Edgerton High School Girls'
Track & Field Team and winning the state championship title.
Band & Orchestra Camps
Summer Instrumental Camp for all beginners will be held on the following dates:

2010 Scholarships provide $70,000 to GEHS seniors
More than $70,000 was awarded to Gardner Edgerton High School seniors this spring. The scholarships were made possible by community clubs, organizations and individuals. A special thank you to the contributors and congratulations to all the winners!
USD 231 to Offer Free Summer Food Service Program
From June 7 through July 30, Gardner Edgerton USD 231 will be offering a Summer Food Service Program at Gardner Elementary during the 2010 summer school session. The Program, sponsored by the Kansas State Department of Education and funded by the Federal Government is open to all children, ages 1-18 FREE of charge. Not only is free breakfast and lunch available to all students enrolled in the summer school program, the cafeteria doors are open to any child in the community so they, too, may enjoy great tasting, nutrition packed meals at no cost. Adults accompanying children may enjoy a meal at an affordable price. The Summer Food Service menus for the month of June and July are available HERE. USD 231 Receives National Awards for
Communication Excellence
The Gardner Edgerton School District is the recipient of two prestigious awards from the National School Public Relations Association. The NSPRA Golden Achievement Award Program and NSPRA Publication and Media Awards Program recognize exemplary public relations activities, programs and projects.
The awards were in recognition of the Gardner Edgerton Teacher Recruitment CD and
the Gardner Edgerton School District Spring 2010 Horizon Newsletter. Entries are
evaluated by judges individually against specific criteria reflecting the four-steps of a
public relations program; research, analysis/planning, communication/implementation,
and evaluation.
