What We Do

The Gardner Edgerton School District has the expectation of high levels of learning for all students. Teachers are required to teach the written curriculum. To provide consistency in the instructional program, the district has grade level standards and benchmarks, outlining what is expected to occur in each classroom during the academic year. Content standards, written by district teachers to align with Kansas State Standards, have been approved by the District Curriculum Committee and the Board of Education. The curriculum is continually evaluated to ensure alignment with the state and to maximize student learning. Students are assessed regularly to monitor progress and evaluate program effectiveness.

Our goal is to increase the measured achievement for every student and to enable teachers to become more effective in the delivery of teaching and learning for all students. Instructional resources and materials are purchased to support the curriculum.

Staff development is designed and implemented to increase the capacity of the entire instructional staff to deliver and monitor the curriculum based on sound teaching principles grounded in educational research. Teachers utilize curriculum mapping in order to maximize communication within and between grade levels, merge and reinforce key concepts, skills and assessments, and to align assessments with learning strategies.
