Information for  First Time Bus Riders

Dear Parents,

The beginning of school is an exciting time for your children. Since this might be the first time your child has ridden a school bus we at First Student would like to help make this a pleasant experience.

Riding a school bus is one of the safest forms of transportation. However, it takes everybody’s help to keep it safe – including students and their parents. While First Student provides expertly trained drivers, well maintained buses and safety education it takes our student passengers, with their parents’ support, to follow the rules for a safe environment to be possible.

Most accidents happen outside the bus, rather than inside. We at First Student would like to take this opportunity to inform your children about School Bus Safety rules that they should follow. We are planning a safety programs for First Ride Students at each elementary school during thier orientation evenings.

The program will include a tour of a bus with an opportunity to board a bus. There will be an explanation of what to expect the first day of riding a school bus plus safe loading/unloading and riding practices. Parents are welcome to attend along with their children.

This should be a fun and relaxing way to introduce your children to riding a school bus as well as let parents know what to expect. You may call with any questions. (856-5650).

Thank you,

Terry Garrett, Location Manager, First Student
